Description

Tulasi, also known as Holy Basil, is a sacred herb in Indian households, valued for its medicinal, spiritual, and aromatic properties. It is widely used in Ayurvedic remedies, herbal teas, and daily rituals. Tulasi grows well in most parts of India and thrives in warm climates with good sunlight.

Sow the seeds directly into pots, grow bags, or garden beds. Use well-drained soil enriched with compost or organic manure. Sow the seeds lightly on the surface and press gently into the soil without burying too deep. Water gently after sowing. Germination usually occurs in 6 to 10 days.

Place the pot or bed in an area with 4 to 6 hours of direct sunlight daily. Keep the soil moist but not soggy. Water regularly and apply organic fertilizer every 20 to 25 days for healthy growth. Begin harvesting leaves once the plant is well established, around 40 to 50 days after sowing. Regular pruning encourages bushier growth and more leaves.

Tulasi can be grown year-round in most Indian climates and is ideal for balconies, terraces, temple spaces, and home gardens.
