Purple long brinjal is a popular vegetable variety known for its tender texture and rich taste. It grows well in warm climates and can be cultivated across India, especially during summer and early monsoon seasons. Choose a location with full sunlight and well-drained fertile soil.
To sow, start seeds in a nursery tray or seedling pot. Sow the seeds about half an inch deep in moist soil. Germination usually takes 7 to 10 days. Once seedlings grow 4 to 5 inches tall with at least 4 true leaves, transplant them into grow bags or open soil with spacing of 18 to 24 inches between plants.
The plant requires regular watering and sunlight. Apply organic manure or compost every 15 to 20 days for better yield. Brinjal starts flowering in 40 to 50 days after transplanting and can be harvested in 60 to 80 days. Pick fruits while they are tender and before the skin becomes dull.
This variety performs well in terrace gardens, pots, and backyard setups, and is suitable for all regions with proper care based on local climate.
