Brown pole beans are a vigorous climbing variety known for their long, stringless pods and brown-colored seeds. This variety is ideal for home gardens and kitchen gardens across India and grows well in warm, sunny conditions. It performs best during early monsoon, summer, and post-monsoon seasons depending on regional climate.
Sow the seeds directly in well-drained, fertile soil enriched with compost. Choose a location with full sunlight and provide a strong support system such as poles, trellis, or fencing for the vines to climb. Sow seeds one inch deep with 12 to 18 inches spacing between plants and around 2 to 3 feet between rows.
Germination occurs within 6 to 10 days.
Water regularly to keep the soil moist but not soggy. Add compost or organic manure every 15 to 20 days. The plant begins flowering in 40 to 50 days, and you can start harvesting the pods in 60 to 70 days. Harvest when the pods are young, tender, and before seeds fully mature for best taste.
Pole beans are ideal for terrace gardens, backyard spaces, and farm boundaries. With timely care, they provide a continuous harvest over several weeks and perform well across various Indian regions.
